A Few Things that are MORE important than Tiger Woods' Story

| |
The story of Tiger Woods first broke 5 days ago. On the surface, it is a strange story. I tweeted about it, talked with family about it, read about it online. I was curious. I still am. I admire Tiger.

But seriously. What the hell has happened to the media in this country? With very little thought or research, I can name many more important stories.

  1. Today is World AIDS Day. Which is more important: 33 million people worldwide with HIV/AIDS or did Tiger have a fight with his wife?
  2. Today, our President announces an additional 30,000+ troops will be sent to Afghanistan. Which is more important: two costly wars being fought in places where al-Qaeda is NOT or whether Tiger had an affair?
  3. The Salahis say they didn't 'crash' the White House State Dinner. (another MSM Fail story, IMO). Who gives a shit about the Salahis? The only thing that matters in this story is HOW they passed through security undetected. Even so, at least THIS story has brought attention to the dangers our President is exposed to every day. Which is more important: identifying the people/processes that failed to protect the President (and many many other important individuals) or will Tiger lose his endorsements?
  4. There is, of course, the standard (read: boring to MSM) newsworthy current events: health care reform, the economy, the other war in Iraq, etc. But you just HAVE to know if Tiger's wife swung the club AT him or FOR him. Sigh.
Folks like this sports writer at Washington Post seem to imply that because he is famous and rich he should not be allowed to keep his story private.  Seriously?

Move on. Really. It's time.
